Les Animaux

Libroz de Madriz collective makes artists’ books. Basically an artist’s book is a work of art in the form of a book. It does not necessarily needs to have a narrative, a story.
When I was invited to make a book for the collection, I started making this drypoint engravings without any apparent connection among them. But while I was making them, the different possibilities of a story would appear, depending on the order I had them laying on my table.
Instead of creating illustrations for a story, it was the drawings that created the narrative,
Drypoint engraving is perhaps the most basic form of intaglio. It consists basically on drawing over the metal surface with a sharp instrument. The metal plate is later inked and printed by hand.
The prints can be detached from the book. To create new stories or framing them individually.
